'Govt spends Tk 1.28 lakh for each Covid-19 patient; at pvt hospital patient pays double'


The Covid-19 treatment cost is abnormally higher in the private hospitals than the public healthcare facilities, revealed a study.
The major differences were found in the diagnosis and medicine cost which according to experts were due to not following the national Covid-19 treatment protocol.
The government has been spending, on an average, Tk 1.28 lakh for the treatment of a Covid-19 patient in general beds and 4.08 lakh in intensive care unit (ICU), according to the study by Health Economics Unit (HEU) of the health ministry.
In case of private Covid-19 hospitals, the cost is much higher  around Tk 2.42 lakh in general beds and around Tk 5.09 lakh in ICU beds which is completely met by the patients. ....

Dec. 22 Taiwan’s trailblazing digital minister, Audrey Tang, was the main speaker at the “Kaya Pala! (It Can Be Done)” forum the other week, which focused on lessons from Taiwan’s evident success in containing both the coronavirus pandemic and the disinformation phenomenon, the so-called infodemic.
