Healthy Davis Together reported an uptick in new COVID-19 cases as well as the test positivity rate recently. HDT provides asymptomatic testing to everyone who lives or works in Davis as well as their family members.

B.1.1.7 variant now accounts for 75 percent of local cases
Asymptomatic COVID-19 testing by Healthy Davis Together has given Davis one of the lowest test-positivity rates in California, but those overseeing the unique city-campus partnership are alarmed by the decline in testing among community members.
That testing, along with the genotyping by the UC Davis Genome Center, has helped officials identify multiple variants of concern circulating in Davis. While the B.1.1.7 variant now represents 75 percent of all positive test results picked up through community and campus testing, other variants present locally include the P.1.

For the first time in almost 500 days, I watched a Sacramento Kings game, in person, Monday night.
It was the same Golden One Center, the same Kings (nearly blowing a 17-point lead in the closing minutes), UC Davis alum Scott Moak was still the public address announcer and Kayte Christensen was still still sitting next to Kyle Draper at the NBC Sports California desk when I walked into the arena.
At the same time, absolutely nothing was the same …
Parking was a breeze.
Entering and exiting the building took all of two minutes. I was required to present my COVID-19 vaccine passport upon entry. And once inside, between every six to eight seats, throughout the entire arena, were the cardboard cutouts sports fans have become all too familiar with during the pandemic.
Letter: Support Davis Schools Foundation
Early in our family’s experience in the Davis schools, we encountered a massive funding crisis. I remember how the Davis Schools Foundation stepped up to help fill the void. I was so grateful for the DSF leadership and how the community rallied in support. I knew then, that if I had the ability, I would always be a donor to DSF. I invite you to do the same by supporting DSF on Thursday, May 6, the Big Day of Giving.
Finding the positives these days can be a bit challenging. But just as in other times of crisis, I have been amazed to see our community come together to help each other through. I am awed by grand developments like the Davis-UC Davis partnership, Healthy Davis together, providing universal testing for COVID-19 as well as smaller, but still significant gestures like my daughter’s Spanish teacher leaving a small gift and note at her door during the lowest weeks in the fall.

In the year-long battle against COVID-19, few individuals or institutions in Yolo County have had quite the impact of Healthy Davis Together.
