Re: April 15 article, Biden to pull U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
President Biden must be applauded for his bold decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan. He is taking a big risk, things will likely get worse before they get better, but unlike his predecessors he opted not to kick the can down the road. The forgotten and forever war had to end someday, and President Biden had the courage to pull the plug.
This American social engineering project in one of the poorest countries of the world was ill- conceived and misguided, an idea doomed to failure that cost U.S. taxpayers $2 trillion, the lives of more than 2,000 American soldiers and more than 150,000 Afghans. The United States has no national interest at stake in Afghanistan anymore. Diplomacy with the Taliban and regional players India and Pakistan, who are engaged in a proxy war in Afghanistan, is the sane way to bring peace in the region. Thank you, President Biden. ....

I was shocked when I read in the paper that tax cheats are costing the U.S. $1 trillion a year. How could this occur and not have public outrage by our elected officials?
We hear all the time we can t invest in improving our country because it costs too much and it would add to the deficit. Solving this problem seems like an excellent way to solve part of that concern. ....
