Early Childhood Development Center On Track To Open For Next School Year Oskaloosa, Iowa – Mahaska County YMCA CEO Matt Larson recently spoke with Oskaloosa News about the progress on the new YMCA building. The facility’s childcare portion is scheduled to open by late summer, while the other parts of the facility are slated to open in early November. Larson said the facility “is going to be an immense benefit for all of the community in the county, and we just can’t wait to show it off for everybody.” Larson says they continue to seek about 2 million dollars in additional funds for the 33.5 million dollar project. “Close, but we’re not quite there.” ....
North Suburban YMCA to host Healthy Kids Day 5K Run/Walk on April 24th
Updated 4/12/2021 12:38 PM The North Suburban YMCA is hosting its fourth annual Healthy Kids Day from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, April 24. As part of the YMCA s annual event, participants can choose an in-person USATF certified 5K route that starts at the Y with staggered start times, or sign up to compete in a virtual 5K that may be completed on any course by April 24. After this long winter, we re encouraging all families to stay active and join in our Healthy Kids Day 5K. We ve seen the impact that the pandemic has had on our community and we feel that now, more than ever, our mission is to provide healthy and fun resources for our community s physical and emotional well-being, said North Suburban YMCA s CEO Kathy Fielding. ....

West Lampeter Township held a dedication ceremony for their new Village Park on Healthy Kids Day in the Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA parking lot near the Veterans Memorial. Community members were excited to start using the new facilities.
