Although many of the Wareham High School Key Club’s typical service events were off-limits due to the ongoing pandemic, the club still achieved recognition on many fronts this year. According to advisor Matt Stanton, members of Key Club found ways to “provide service while maintaining the COVID protocols” and made the most of the year. “The students elected to do the best they could with the cards they were dealt,” he said. Of the nearly 200 Key Clubs in the district, Wareham High School’s Key Club was one of five schools in New England to achieve Diamond Distinguished Key Club recognition for leadership development and service. ....

The Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA) has recognized 975 nurses and midwives for their sterling contribution, service, and sacrifice to healthcare, particularly during the COVID- 19 pandemic. The nurses and midwives from the parishes of Clarendon, St. Elizabeth, and Manchester were recognized at a virtual ceremony on Tuesday, March 2, and received tokens of appreciation and special awards. Renowned Public Health Specialist, Professor Peter Figueroa who delivered the keynote address, commended the nurses, noting that special tribute must be paid to nurses who have remained in Jamaica, as the country loses scores of nurses annually. ....

Through hard work, dedication, and the heart to serve our school and community, Central s Key Club brought home 8 awards. Andy Vo won first place for the Video Contest and first place for the Essay Contest, which depicted the three components of Key Club. Natalie Rivera was awarded 3rd place for the Scrapbook Contest. Grace Lachance accepted the 3rd place award on behalf of the club for the Annual Achievement report, which outlines all projects that our club had participated in throughout the year. ....
