UNIBENYouths of the Nesan-Kugbe Cultural Group from host communities of the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), yesterday, staged a peaceful protest in Ekpoma, Esan West Council to demand the appointment of an Esan indigene as vice-chancellor of the institution. They rejected the appointment of a lecturer from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Bini indigene, Prof. Benson Osadolor, as acting vice-chancellor and demanded his immediate removal. x The youths, who carried placards with various inscriptions, marched through major roads, visiting the Market Square, the Ekpoma Police Station and Palace of the Onogie of Ekpoma, HRH Anthony Abumere ll. They also sought abrogation of the amended AAU Law, saying it was against the spirit of university autonomy, just as they appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki to complete the Ihumudumu-Ujemen-Iruekpen road. ....

The annual production target was around 90% higher than anticipated in the feasibility plan for this stage, the company said. Average monthly production from the mine was expected to be about 27,000 tonnes of ore, peaking during the second quarter, while a stockpile of over 240,000 tonnes. During Q1 2021, mining had largely focused on the Arzu North open-pit, within which additional gold mineralisation had been encountered outside of the original mine reserve. Plant expansion to an operating capacity of up to 500,000 tonnes of ore per annum was well underway and scheduled for completion in early Q3 2021. ....
MOUNTAIN IRON â Itâs been a few years since the old Mountain Iron-Buhl school brimmed with life. Aside from the gym being used for occasional practices and activities, the building in downtown Mountain Iron has mostly sat vacant since the new MI-B seventh to 12th grade school opened adjacent to Merritt Elementary during the 2018-2019 school year. But the old school is on the verge of possibly hosting student activity once again following the recent sale of the building. The MI-B School Board at the end of February approved a $40,000 purchase agreement with three buyers from northwestern Wisconsin, who have a trifold plan for the structure, including using gym space to host AAU basketball tournaments. ....
23 February 2021 AAUS is once again proud to be hosting an Industry Awards night to recognise individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to the Australian unmanned systems industry. This year, over 80 nominations were received for the 5 award categories highlighting the strength of our rapidly developing industry. Of interest was that over a quarter of these were nominated for the Innovation Award. All nominations were high quality and consisted of an impressive list of individuals and organisations. Our judging panel had the difficult job of selecting finalists for each category. Finalists are listed below. Winners will be announced during the AAUS Gala Dinner that will be held in Canberra on the evening of Wednesday March 10, 2021.
