the pentagon is investigating payments to president trump s former national security advisor michael flynn, including one to attend a gala dinner in russia where he sat on a table with president putin. general flynn made headlines when he was fired by mr trump afterjust21i days in office, it emerged he d misled vice president mike pence about his dealings with the russian ambassador. let s speak to the bbc‘s laura bicker, whojoins us live from washington. laura, what is the latest on this? we know the pentagon is investigating this $45,000 payment that was made to michael flynn for an appearance at a gala in moscow. when it comes to those payments, the reason this is all under scrutiny is because it s not allowed, both under the constitution and under guidelines. when asked about it, certainly michael flynn s lawyer went ahead and said that he had asked permission. that is allowed if he has asked for permission but the pentagon said so far there s no evidence of this. ....
