Worcester YWCA early education providers high demand low staff COVID


WORCESTER  While the rest of the education world sent students home last spring, early education providers in the region remained open, and continued to offer in-person services throughout the pandemic.
More than a year later, those programs, which had already faced steep challenges before the coronavirus, say they are worse off just as the region begins to reopen, as they struggle to find employees and meet the growing demand of families.
“There was a big black cloud over us before the pandemic,” said Darlene Belliveau, director of children’s services at the YWCA of Central Massachusetts. “Now I feel like we’re swirling in a tornado.” ....

To raise awareness of Michigan s water resources, Great Lakes and Fresh Water Week - June 5-13 - will celebrate our lakes and rivers around the themes of Appreciate, Educate and Recreate.
From Saugatuck to Saginaw and from Kalamazoo to the Keweenaw, Michiganders treasure their water resources. Great Lakes and Fresh Water Week is a timely opportunity to raise awareness of how much we rely on and treasure this resource that impacts Michiganders in so many ways, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said. Education advocates and experts told state senators on Wednesday that the disruption caused by the COVID-19 crisis presents a unique opportunity to reform aspects of all levels of schooling and encouraged them to act before that moment passes Massachusetts by.
