A death sentence for a non-violent crime?
Watching the Chauvin trial on Good Friday, it occurred to me that I ve never heard a Christian question whether it was wrong for the two thieves crucified on either side of Christ to be sentenced to death. Could this be why so many so-called Christians question George Floyd s character but not the character of the officers who killed him? Is killing someone who has committed a non-violent crime ever justified?

The Wyoming Republican became Trumpworld s public enemy No. 1 this year after her vote to impeach the former president, jeopardizing her career and leadership job. Since then, though, Cheney has racked up a string of wins that put her on more solid footing in the party starting with her easy victory over a conservative-led effort to oust her as House GOP conference chair.

Hand-wringing over Dr. Seuss books not justified
As a former children’s librarian, I was shocked by the outrage expressed over a few of the less popular Dr. Seuss books going out of print not banned, censored, or cancelled, just ceasing to be published. Books go out of print every day, even books by popular authors.
In the proverbial marketplace of ideas, some ideas cease to be marketable. Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss) was a product of his race, his place, and his time. He graduated from college in the mid-1920s, when KKK membership was peaking, when most “public” libraries were whites-only, and racial stereotypes were considered acceptable (to some white people I doubt they were ever considered acceptable to the people being portrayed). Those days are long gone, and the books in question lingered in the market only because of their author’s name, not due to quality; stereotyping itself is a sign of lack of imagination on the part of an author or illustra
