Papillion-La Vista s Norah Sis captured first in the girls high jump after clearing 5 8 on her final attempt.Omaha Burke junior Devon Jackson was dominant on the day, running the 100 meter dash in 10.57 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 21.63 seconds to take home two gold medals at the meet.In the 300 meter boys hurdles, Omaha North s Cameron Gunn narrowly edged Abe Hoskins of Omaha Central to take first in a near photo finish.Omaha Marian s Lauren Harris capped her career on the track with her third straight gold medal in the girls 400 meter dash.Elkhorn South is the Class A boys team champion with 88 points.Fremont took the Class A girls crown, beating out Lincoln Southwest with 83 points. ....

The Nebraska football team picked up their first verbal commitment of 2022 on Sunday morning. Columbus (Neb.) linebacker Ernest Hausmann announced his commitment on Twitter, after reportedly letting the coaching staff know on Saturday. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Hausmann is the first NU scholarship recruit from Columbus High School since tight end Tim Carpenter in 1993, and the first Division I FBS recruit to come from the town since Columbus Lakeview tight end Josh Mueller in 2003. Before Carpenter in 1993, Columbus High School also produced legendary Nebraska fullback Cory Schlesinger in 1989, who went on to have a 12-year NFL career with the Detroit Lions. ....

1 – Area recruiting scene starting to take form Nebraska has made five in-state offers for the Class of 2022, two for the class of 2023 and one for the class of 2024. I would expect that number for both 2022 and 2023 to grow here very soon. The challenge continues to be the lack of in-person evaluations, as many of these kids you’d like to see and workout in person, but that’s just not a reality at this point. Even getting an accurate height and weight measurement would be nice on a lot of these players. The other thing about the class of 2022 is it appears the Huskers are on the outside looking in with the state’s three top prospects in Omaha Central offensive lineman Deshawn Woods, Omaha Burke linebacker Devon Jackson and Bellevue West tight end Micah Riley-Ducker. ....
