The San Luis Obispo County Type 3 All-Hazard Incident Management Team (XSL IMT) announced Saturday it has helped the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department vaccinate more than 22,000 community members.
According to a news release from CAL FIRE SLO, since late December 2020, XSL IMT has provided assistance to the county health department in establishing two COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
XSL IMT worked with the public health department, the Emergency Operations Center and other local agencies to establish the vaccination clinics in Paso Robles and Arroyo Grande. The Incident Management Team also coordinated with local fire departments, private and public ambulance agencies and other public safety-related entities, according to CAL FIRE SLO. ....

COVID-19 scrambles meetings in North Port and Venice

SOUTH SARASOTA COUNTY – COVID-19 pandemic-related social distancing concerns have prompted the cities of North Port and Venice both to juggle their planned public meetings.
In North Port, Interim City Manager Jason Yarborough canceled the North Port City Commission’s Tuesday meeting, as well as Thursday’s Code Enforcement Board hearing.
Meanwhile, the Venice City Council hosted its regularly scheduled hybrid meeting but did so without a quorum in chambers at Venice City Hall – which meant board members treated the day as a cross between a workshop and a meeting.
North Port spokesman Josh Taylor confirmed that the cancelations were COVID-19 related. ....

Venice City Council discusses COVID-19 vaccine distribution

VENICE – Nick Pachota offered fellow members of the Venice City Council insight Tuesday on his current state role as an incident commander in the state’s effort to administer COVID-19 vaccines.
“There is no doubt that if we have the vaccine on hand, we’re trying to put that in people’s arms,” said Pachota, the All Hazard Incident Management Team incident commander for Regions 6 and 7, as part of the Unified Command under the Florida Division of Emergency Management and Florida Department of Health on the State Emergency Response Team.
Region 7 includes Miami-Dade and Broward counties, while Region 6 includes counties on the Gulf Coast as far north as Manatee. ....

Venice's Nick Pachota to help with deployment of Pfizer vaccine

VENICE – Venice resident Nick Pachota deployed Wednesday to help the state administer COVID-19 vaccines to vulnerable nursing home residents.
Specifically, he will be part of the teams that deliver 21,450 doses of the Pfizer vaccine as part of a government-announced pilot project in Broward and Pinellas counties.
While Pinellas is part of Region 4, Broward is in Region 7, where Pachota was deployed for 164 days earlier this year as the incident commander as the state assessed the impact of the virus on nursing homes.
“The framework is here, now we’re going to train everybody this weekend and roll this out in the middle of next week,” said Pachota, who is deployed as a part of the volunteer nonprofit Central Florida Disaster Medical Coalition. ....
