Crime News: Constable held for demanding Rs 10 lakh bribe from contractor

A police constable was held by the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau in Malwani, on Tuesday, for allegedly demanding Rs 10 lakh as a bribe from a contractor.
According to a news agency, the contractor had constructed some illegal tenements in
Malvani area.

The constable, Ganesh Salunkhe (38), demanded Rs 10 lakh from the contractor and assured him that he would not face a case under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act.
A senior police officer informed that the contractor had already paid him Rs 3 lakh.
However, he then informed the ACB about the
bribery, and Salunkhe was held in a trap while accepting Rs 1 lakh in ....

The lawmaker representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Teejay Yusuf, has raised the alarm over an influx of displaced Fulani herdsmen and other northerners in Kogi State.
Yusuf alleged that the presence of the herdsmen poses danger to his constituency.
The lawmaker raised the alarm in a statement sent to our correspondent on Friday, titled ‘Urgent Need to Stop Influx of Herdsmen and their Dangerous Activities in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.’
The Shasha market has been shut since last Friday when Yoruba and Hausa/Fulani communities clashed reportedly resulting in the death of some residents, destruction of properties, and displacement of people in the area. ....

Pappu Nepali is first to be booked under MCOCA in 2021 | Mumbai News

MUMBAI: Pappu Nepali, a 33-year-old inter-state robber, has become the first accused to be booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) this year. Nepali, a Virar resident whose actual name is Dalbirsingh Rawat, was most recently involved in an armed robbery at an imitation jewellery-making workshop in Malad (East).
Nepali has been booked in 13 criminal cases so far, including thefts, attempted murder, assault and robbery across western suburbs, Nalasopara, Thane and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. He has faced chapter cases, besides externment proceedings, under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act in the past.
On October 28, 2020, two men brandishing choppers had barged into an imitation jewellery workshop in Malad and threatened the workers in an extortion bid.
