Wernitz - Irgendwo zwischen Wut und Resignation bewegt sich Jörg Lebrecht vom Kreisanglerverein Gardelegen, wenn er über seine Erfahrungen mit „Badegästen“ an den Angelseen auf dem Gebiet der Einheitsgemeinde Gardelegen spricht.
In der nicht gerade gewässerreichen Altmark hatten die Angler jahrelang versucht, ein gemeinsames, vernünftiges Miteinander mit Erholungssuchenden zu erreichen. Sie drückten bei Badenden immer mal ein Auge zu, obwohl zum Beispiel der Wernitzer Kiessee über ihren Landesverband sogar gekauft wurde, also praktisch ihr eigener Grundbesitz ist.

LEMONT, IL The Lemont community is rallying around long-time resident Sue Novak after a May 31 house fire which resulted in the death of her brother, Scott Slane. Novak was able to escape during the fire, but her home was destroyed, and her belongings lost.
Novak s dog also died in the fire. Her cat, Shadow, was found alive, hiding under a bed, the next day.
To help Novak, several Lemont businesses have planned fundraising events, and there are several donation bins, set up by the Hope and Friendship Foundation, around town.

HAMMOND - Early Wednesday morning, firefighters in Hammond responded to a deadly blaze where one victim was found deceased.
According to representatives from the Hammond Fire Department, it was around 12:28 a.m. when first responders rushed to a residential area off Old Covington Highway and found a structure engulfed in flames.
Firefighters made their way inside of the building, and discovered the body of a deceased victim.
At this time, no other information related to the cause of the fire or the victim s identity is available.
