Love You Live: Local Venues Find A Variety Of Ways To Celebrate Music While Staying Safe

With COVID cases continuing their three-month decline, vaccines flowing and artists with a year of material ready to perform, the coming months are shaping up to be great times to attend live music in Tucson. Of course, many local venues are not quite ready to host indoor concerts. Those with patios are utilizing their outdoor spaces, and even indoor-only venues are finding unique ways to get music to the masses or prep audiences for when the time is right.
The Fox Theatre is collaborating with the Downtown Tucson Partnership to bring back live music, but this isn t a traditional indoor concert series, because the music may very well come to you. Troubadour Thursdays takes place throughout April, and serves as a downtown patio tour, where local musicians will move throughout downtown and perform to multiple restaurants and open areas. Each week features a different style of music, and all of the travelling troubadours are local. ....

There are so many different forms of education in America but one unique experience that Black college students opt for is that of attending an HBCU.
An HBCU is a historically Black college or university. Any college that isn t an HBCU is considered a PWI, or predominantly white institution.
There are major differences between the two types of schools that account for why some young Black students would rather attend an HBCU. Fayetteville State University is a public HBCU that was founded more than 150 years ago.

Long-silenced Tucson stages see glimmer of hope to reignite live music scene

When the cloud of COVID-19 lifts and the long-shuttered Fox Tucson Theatre reopens to audiences and artists, Executive Director Bonnie Schock imagines there will be an outflowing of emotion from her staff and audiences filling the nearly 1,200-seat historic theater.
âThe push to get back there, it feels Herculean some days,â said Schock, who has led the Fox through the pandemic. âGetting to that point is going to be an extraordinary emotional release, and I think that will be true for audiences, too.â
But that day wonât come for months. Schock, who took over the Fox just days before city and state officials ordered businesses to close, said she anticipates it will be late summer or early fall before the Fox will return to live concerts. ....
