Antoinette Archimede, 56, was charged with battery, threatening a person based on their perceived characteristics and using offensive words in a public place. She remained in the Santa Rita Jail as of Wednesday afternoon, according to jail records. Archimede was arrested Apr. 30 after police said she accosted two women in the area of Telegraph and Durant avenues, threw water bottles at them and cursed one woman’s Asian ethinicity, said Berkeley Police spokesman Byron White.The Chronicle

BERKELEY, Calif. - The Alameda County District Attorney s Office charged a 56-year-old woman Tuesday with hate crime charges.
According to the Berkeley Police Department, two women were walking on the sidewalk a 3:58 p.m. Friday near Telegraph Avenue and Durant Avenue when they walked by Antoinette Archimede, who made eye contact with one of the women and then cursed her and her Asian ethnicity, before throwing water bottles at the women and walking away.
Police found Archimede a few blocks away and arrested her. ....

Police arrested a 55-year-old woman earlier this week after she made racial slurs and pushed a female pedestrian into the street in the Southside Berkeley neighborhood, authorities report.
The alleged assailant, Antoinette Archimede, “yelled several hateful statements about people of Mexican descent” during the encounter, which took place just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Berkeley Police Department said in a prepared statement about the hate crime arrest. Archimede’s race is listed as white in BPD records online. ....
