Pose star Mj Rodriguez lands role in Apple TV+ comedy series
Mj Rodriguez will star alongside Maya Rudolph in an upcoming comedy series for Apple TV+.
According to Variety, the series will follow Molly (Rudolph), a woman whose “seemingly perfect life is upended after her husband leaves her with nothing but 87 billion dollars.”
Rodriguez will play Sofia, “the hard-working executive director of the non-profit funded by her absentee billionaire boss, Molly”.
The star is best known for her lead role as Blanca in Ryan Murphy and Steven Canals’ critically-acclaimed LGBTQ+ drama series Pose, which boasts the largest number of transgender regulars in television history. ....

Pose viewers already know the grim contents of the trunk stinking up Elektra’s closet. Having already loaded the chamber of this Chekhov’s gun, in lieu of a reveal, the writers wisely pivoted to a story about the history of the House of Abundance.
In the rush of a flash-forwarding final season, it’s good to see the show taking time to give one of the series’ enduring mysteries and most fascinating real-life inspirations proper closure.
It’s also a great excuse to give Dominique Jackson’s Elektra an extended showcase. Jackson always had a powerful presence on the screen, but this was some of her most vulnerable work in a series punctuated with so many fierce moments. ....

Pose continues to draw to a close with its third and final season, Dominique Jackson took center stage in episode three, “The Trunk,” as the FX series finally explored Elektra’s backstory and dealt with what was stuffed in the back of her closet since season 2.
“We get to finally see her backstory. We get to learn about the creation or the formation of the House of Abundance, which is really exciting,” co-creator Steven Canals tells ET. For him, it was important to give Elektra this moment, especially after so many people wrote her off as a villain in season 1. “We’ve really shown so much development and growth with that character,” he adds. ....
