Ravens Meet Demons for Regular Season Finale

It’s the regular season finale tonight for the Hillcrest Academy and Washington boys’ soccer teams when the two squads meet for a non-conference bout in Kalona.  The Demons sit at 9-4 on the season and last had a come from behind 3-2 victory over Columbus on Thursday. Zac Stout has found the back of the net 28 times and that ranks seventh in the state regardless of class. The Ravens are 7-5 and they placed second over the weekend in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference tournament. Noah Miller leads the squad with eight goals.  It is senior night for Hillcrest Academy and they will honor Eli Ours, Dominic Bouse, Will Kolck, Aaron Hershberger, Aidan Yoder, London Schrock, John Hughes, and Johnny Diaz. 

Ravens Take On Indians on the Pitch

The Hillcrest Academy Raven soccer team travels to Wapello tonight for a Southeast Iowa Superconference match with the Indians. The Ravens come into the night with an overall record of 2-3. The Ravens were shut out last week in a loss to No. 13 Mediapolis 1-0. On the season, Hillcrest is led by Will Kolck with three goals, John Hughes, Dominic Bouse and Johnny Diaz each with one assist and in goal, Aiden Krabill has 34 saves and a 72.3% save percentage. Wapello is 1-8 on the season, knocking off Highland 5-4 on Tuesday for their first victory of the season. Hector Zepeda had four goals to lead the Indians in the win. On the season, Zepeda has 14 goals to lead the team, Robert Vazquez has a team best five assists and in goal, Kainoa Seumanutafa has made 136 saves with a 70.5% save percentage. Hillcrest has won eight straight in the series including a 6-0 victory in 2019. Action starts tonight at 7p.m. in Wapello.

The Hillcrest Academy boys soccer team will try to get back on the winning track today when they host Cedar Valley Christian. Hillcrest enters play with a 1-2 record after being shut out by Columbus/Winfield-Mt. Union Thursday 2-0. On the season the Ravens are led by Will Kolck with three goals. John Hughes, Dominic Bouse and Johnny Diaz each have one assist and in goal Aiden Krabil has made 28 saves with a 70% save percentage. Cedar Valley Christian comes into the day with an 0-4 record. They were beaten by Center Point Urbana 8-0 on Monday. The Huskies have yet to score a goal on the season, being outscored 28-0 across their four matches. In goal, Braydon Taylor has 45 saves and a 71.4% save percentage. The Ravens are 4-0 all-time against CVC including a 4-0 shut out win in 2019. Hillcrest has outscored the Huskies 17-1 combined in their previous meetings. Action starts at 9:30 this morning on the campus of Hillcrest Academy.
