The district was originally larger because a DORA is required to have a certain amount of liquor permit holders. The city identified an additional liquor permit, held by board game cafe Sapphire City, downtown, allowing them to create a smaller more-centralized district, DeOrio said.

DISCUSSION: This year, North Canton is advertising for bids for large projects at the beginning of the year. Council approved projects budgeted at $50,000 and higher in one piece of legislation, rather than approving them throughout the year.
Those projects include:
$150,000 for renovations at City Hall
$60,000 for the 50th Street SE project
$70,000 for the Portage corridor project
$600,000 to add an additional lane to Charlotte Street NW
$1.06 million for the North Main Street resurfacing project
$50,000 for sealant for the Price Park walking path
