Highlander II: The Quickening may be one the biggest WTF sequels ever put to film. After the first entry gained legendary status thanks to VHS and the booming home video market, a sequel was guaranteed. But after the second entry bombed, it became a punching bag for critics, fans, and it seemed like the end was nigh.
In 1994 Andrew Morahan stepped into the director s chair with the hope of giving fans the sequel they always deserved. Highlander III: The Final Dimension retconned Highlander II and tried to do right by the audience. Did Morahan succeed? Yes, and no. Part 3 is the closest we got to a good sequel, even if it proves that you can t catch lightning in a bottle twice.
