Michael Maccini and Matthew Osborne of the Weston Fire Department graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy s (MFA) Call/Volunteer Recruit Firefighter Training Class #90. We have taken greater advantage of online learning technology, reduced group training size to increase social distancing, implemented screening, and required mask-wearing to keep our instructors and students as safe as possible during these uncertain times,” said Deputy State Fire Marshal Fournier, interim director.
In the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy program, students receive training in hazardous material incident mitigation, flammable liquids, stress management, firefighter self-rescue and vehicle extrication.
To graduate, students must demonstrate proficiency in life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation and fire attack.
