Shooting victim drove dangerously after discharging himself from hospital

A SHOOTING victim who had discharged himself from hospital, climbed into a car and careered along the wrong side of a dual carriageway, forcing other drivers to swerve out of the way.
Curtis Morgan eventually collided with another vehicle and fencing and tried to make a getaway, but was found unconscious nearby.
Bolton Crown Court heard how Morgan, also known as Curtis Francis, almost died after being shot on July 12, 2019.
The 30-year-old was attacked outside the Outline Health and Fitness Centre in Lever Street, Bolton and the court heard that the gunman has never been found.
Morgan appeared in the dock on crutches, still severely injured from the incident, as Harriet Lavin, prosecuting, told how police saw a Mercedes on Bury New Road, Bolton, on September 19, 2019. ....

A JEALOUS thug repeatedly assaulted his girlfriend, leaving her battered and bruised, after accusing her of flirting with one of his friends.
Tyler Tunnah stormed out of Chloe Lysaght s home but returned a short time later, telling her: I ve only come back to hurt you.
And just days later he assaulted her again after becoming unahppy at her plans to go to the supermarket. He punched her, knocking her head against a fence and causing her to fall to the ground.
Sentencing him to 16 months in a young offenders institution, Judge Tina Landale told 19-year-old Tunnah he had behaved appallingly . ....

Mix 102.3 has expanded its lead in the Adelaide radio market, boosting its overall share by 1.3 ratings points to land on 13%.
It is the first survey for the station’s new breakfast team of Erin Phillips and Mark ‘Soda’ Soderstrom, who managed to gain 0.3 points from the last survey of 2020 to reach a 10.9% share.
Phillips and Soderstrom trailed ABC Adelaide, which achieved a sizeable share of 15.2% despite a 0.7 point drop, and FiveAA on 14.8%. Hosted by David Penberthy and Will Goodings, FiveAA – Nova’s only AM station – gained 2.6 points in breakfast. ....

A GRANDAD who grew cannabis in a bedroom in his home has been handed a community service order.
A neighbour raised concerns over the welfare of Darren Hammersley, of Oxford Grove, Halliwell, on September 18 last year after receiving a worrying text message from him the previous night and phoned police.
Officers arrived at his address and got no answer so had to force entry to get inside.
At Bolton Crown Court on Thursday, Maria Brannan, prosecuting, said that Hammersley was not present but police found a quantity of cannabis drying out in an upstairs bedroom. ....

The recent bushfires in Australia inflicted heavy damage across the land, destroying forests and buildings, and displacing both humans and wildlife. The fire took its toll on Kangaroo Island and the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. The fire on Kangaroo Island, which was sparked by lightning strikes in December 2019, burnt its way through half of the island, destroying more than 200,000 hectares.
As part of the recovery efforts, it was decided to build a new Koala Hospital at the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park to provide refuge to a large number of koalas that had either been injured or had lost their natural habitat on the island. ....
