A COMMUNITY Bank Holiday picnic was a hit with Weymouth residents - with more events now to follow. Littlemoor Youth Club held its first Family Picnic on Bank Holiday Monday - and organisers have hailed the event a success as they prepare to host more picnics over the summer. The free event took place at the field outside the Top Club on Louviers Road. It was opened by Weymouth s deputy mayor, councillor Ann Weaving, who lives in Littlemoor and is also a volunteer at the club. Glitter tattoos were available, as well as refreshments for a small price, with all money raised to be used to provide activities for young people at the club. ....
Councillor Richard Nickinson has backed the Weymouth Gateway development. COUNCILLORS and local business figures have thrown their support behind the proposed retail park plans at the Weymouth Gateway site, which were today being decided by planning bosses. Various figures across the political spectrum have backed the plans ahead of today s planning committee, stating the development will create hundreds of jobs, boost the local economy and lead to further investment into Weymouth. Councillor Richard Nickinson, Conservative Group Leader on Weymouth Town Council, noted he did not understand why Weymouth Town Council opposed the plans and their views do not reflect the majority view of Weymouth residents. ....
