Natalie Poole had never given art, or art class, much thought as she was putting the finishing touches on her high school education. An accomplished student and standout softball player, she was looking forward to attending college, getting a degree and excelling in her favorite sport. At Central High, art class was an elective so Poole signed up for the stress-free experience. She would give the class her best effort, as is her personality, have some fun sketching and painting and move on. ....

The group raised over £2,000 to go towards presents for the hospital. Picture: Jodie Humphreys The friends, who live in Beech Road, Strood, used the cash to buy gifts for children and staff on the Dolphin and Penguin wards. There were collection pots outside the properties for visitors to drop cash into, and a GoFundMe page. The group donated a new Xbox Series S, five smart tablets, three portable DVD players, pyjamas, clothes and 10 bags of toiletries. ....

Some performances were going virtual because of the pandemic. Some were outright canceled. There were going to be fewer opportunities for gig workers such as musicians, and similarly few opportunities for the community to enjoy the arts at the holidays. So in August, Lott and his wife began thinking of ways to make that connection between musicians and the community. As they talked to members of the local arts community, the project snowballed to become the Virtual Holiday Spectacular, which will be streamed free Sunday, then be available to replay for a month on Facebook.
