The Choice is Yours Festival set to take over Millom and Haverigg

A FOUR week long health festival is set to take place across four different locations in Millom and Haverigg. Week one of The Choice is Yours Festival will take place between May 31-June 4 at Haverigg Cricket Club, week two will see the event move to Millom Rugby Union Football Club between June 7-11, week three will head to Millom Rugby League Football Club on June 14-18 and it will end at Millom Cricket Club on June 21-26. Each day the festival will take place between 10am-3pm. There will be activities for all ages including arts and crafts, smoothie making and cooking classes. Advice stalls and workshops will be on offer from a range of organisations including West Cumbria Carers, Hope and Cope, Mind Furness and Men in Sheds.

People in Morecambe Bay urged to get outdoors to boost mental health in lockdown

HEALTH bosses are encouraging people in Cumbria to get outdoors as part of Mental Health Awareness week. The annual awareness week is hosted by the Mental Health Foundation - and this year s theme is nature. The campaign highlights the need for us all to look after our minds and celebrate the benefits of being around nature in our local communities. This last year many people turned to nature to help get through the lockdowns. Dr Andy Knox, Director of Population Health and Engagement for Bay Health and Care Partners and an Executive GP for Morecambe Bay CCG said: “Looking after our mental health has never been more important. The pandemic has been challenging for us all and people’s mental health will have been affected in various ways.

The past nine months have been difficult and there are many who have struggled with poor mental health due to the changes we ve had to face.
