Anderson County trustee to speak to Republican Party Thursday

Regina Copeland, Anderson County trustee, will be the speaker at the monthly meeting of the Anderson County Republican Party on Thursday, July 22.
As trustee, Regina serves as “the banker” for Anderson County government. Her responsibilities include collecting the county’s property taxes and funds from the state and federal government; accounting for and disbursing county funds to the county school systems and the county general fund; and investing temporarily idle county funds until they are needed by the Anderson County Board of Education or County Commission, according to a news release. She also administers the tax relief and tax freeze programs for the county and its cities. ....

A federal jury in Chattanooga has ruled that William Jones, former Anderson County Circuit Court clerk, sexually harassed plaintiff Gail Harness, one of his former employees in that county government office.
However, this jury also ruled that Anderson County government is not liable for Jones actions and does not have to pay damages to Harness.
Harness’s attorney, Richie Collins of the Knoxville law firm Stanley, Kurtz and Collins sent a news release Thursday, June 24, announcing the lawsuit will be ongoing, and Harness plans to appeal.
