Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – A select group of Ohio State men’s and women’s racers travelled to Ann Arbor, Mich., for the Silverston Invitational Friday, a three-team event featuring the host Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State in addition to the Buckeyes. Ohio State’s competitors performed extremely well, with nine wins 11 races entered. The Buckeyes did not send any field performers to the meet. Junior Yanique Dayle picked led the way for the Buckeyes, picking up her first two wins in a Buckeye uniform after transferring from New Mexico Junior College, where she helped the team win the JUCO national indoor championship in 2020. Dayle set two personal bests in winning the 60 in 7.37 and the 200 in 24.35. ....
Shawn Price February 18, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Another milestone for the Randal Tyson Track Center came in the form of certification for the facility by World Athletics this month following recent renovations. The home to Razorback track and field becomes one of just five facilities in the United States to be certified at World Athletics’ highest standard. The other four U.S. indoor venues are in Chicago, Houston, and two venues in New York. When Arkansas hosts the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, it will mark the first time in the 55-year history of the event for it to be held on a World Athletics certified venue. ....
Shawn Price February 13, 2021 FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 3 Arkansas completed its quest to produce national qualifier during this weekend’s Tyson Invitational, while falling just short of winning the team title. Among a national caliber field of teams competing inside Randal Tyson Track Center, Texas edged the Razorbacks in team scoring, 82-76, with Alabama (68) and Florida State (66) in a tight finish for third place. The rest of the field included Oregon (60), LSU (48.5), Texas A&M (40.5), and Florida (38). “It was good meet, and we got a lot of things done this weekend,” stated Arkansas men’s head coach Chris Bucknam. “I was a little disappointed that we didn’t come out on top of the team scoring at the end. Texas had 82 points and we were second with 76. ....
Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – It may be a little nippy outside in Ohio in February, but indoors things are heating up for the track and field teams at Ohio State University, which are competing in the two-day SPIRE Institute Big Ten Invite in Geneva, Ohio this weekend. How warm? Dig this: Sade Olatoye, competing for the first time this winter, won the weight throw competition by over 15 feet with a throw – 23.4m/76-9 ¼ – that is the farthest throw in the nation this year, by over four feet! Good news for throwers nationally, Olatoye has exhausted her indoor eligibility and will compete unattached through the indoor season, but then return for one last outdoor season where she will, no doubt, continue to cement her legacy as one of the great, great student-athletes in Ohio State history. ....
“We are looking for continued improvement this weekend,” said Arkansas coach Chris Bucknam. “We’ve had a good four-week run of some outstanding track meets. We’ve also had some great programs in here that provided some unbelievable competition for everybody. “We’re just trying to knock off qualifying times at this point. I’m hoping that we can improve where we are nationally as well as in the SEC.” Among the schools competing in the Tyson Invitational, they currently combine for 12 collegiate leading marks heading into this weekend. Just reaching the final in the 60m and 60m hurdle events will give entrants a taste of what to expect in upcoming conference and national meet encounters. This edition of the Tyson Invitational features deep and talented fields in various events. ....
