As other counties and states make headlines by tying COVID-19 vaccinations to benefits like free drinks, Teton County is wondering what role it can play in incentivizing people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
No decisions have been made and the Teton County Board of County Commissioners is not unanimous in what it wants to do, if anything.
But it did begin the conversation Monday when Commissioner Luther Propst asked to hear more from the Teton County Health Department about what would be helpful.
After that morningâs meeting, Propst told the News&Guide he didnât want a resurgence of the virus. COVID-19 case levels have been low, with the county reporting a seven-day average of daily new cases at 2.3 Sunday. Thatâs the lowest level seen in Jackson Hole since the end of June 2020, when cases began to climb towards their summer peak. With that and a relatively high vaccination rate as a backdrop, county officials met in-person and mostly unmasked Monday morning â
And, with a slate of contracts approved Tuesday, the project should once again be chugging along.
Parks and Rec Director Steve Ashworth told the County Commission that he thought his department âdid a much better jobâ of âreaching out to many of the stakeholdersâ this time around.
The Teton County Board of County Commissioners agreed.
The elected officials unanimously approved the three contracts Ashworth brought to them Tuesday. Those documents put a climbing gym consultant, a local construction manager at-risk, and an ownerâs representative â an outside group that ensures projects finish on time and within budget â on the project.

The Gill family is forcing the County Commission to make a decision on conceptual plans for a 26-acre development in northern South Park.
âWe are pursuing our right to action,â family attorney Amberley Baker told the Teton County Board of County Commissioners on Monday.
Commissioners voted 3-2 last week to postpone for two months a decision on this stage of the familyâs proposal. They did so partly because itâs unclear whether the Jackson Town Council will permit the Gills to connect to the municipal wastewater system. Critics and supporters of the pending development agree that connecting to that system would be best from an environmental perspective.
