Lyon County Commissioners shared some of their legislative concerns and questions with Rep. Michelle Fischbach during a special meeting Friday. Over the past couple of days, Fischbach made several stops around Lyon and Lincoln County to meet with area leaders and residents.
MARSHALL  They may have been discussing some big issues – everything from the federal budget to environmental protections and green energy. But the message that Lyon County commissioners had for Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach on Friday was to remember how local governments and businesses are affected by national decisions.
Fischbach was in agreement with a lot of the points commissioners brought up, and said she wanted to help make sure rural Minnesotans had “a seat at the table” when lawmakers planned for the future. ....

Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer E. J. Moberg delivers a report to the Lyon County board. Lyon County will be accepting grant applications from area businesses for $500,000 in state COVID-19 relief funding.
MARSHALL  Lyon County businesses can now apply for new grants to help with the costs of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday, county commissioners approved a program to distribute $500,000 in state funding for small businesses and nonprofits that were affected by executive orders issued in response to COVID-19.
“If you guys approve it, it will start tomorrow,” Lyon County Auditor/Treasurer E.J. Moberg told commissioners. Area businesses and nonprofits would have until Feb. 17 to apply for the grants, he said. ....
