Hundreds Raise Hand For Southern's COVID-19 Vaccine Workforce

Doctor David Hunt and his wife Hilary have come out of
retirement to support the COVID-19 vaccine workforce. The
Dunedin couple are joined by over 800 others who have
expressed an interest in joining the campaign.
Dr
Hunt, a former anaesthetist, couldn’t wait to get involved
as a vaccinator and his wife has joined him at the Dunedin
clinic in the Meridian mall as part of the non-clinical
staff.
The on-boarding of the Southern district’s
vaccine workforce is well underway with at least 170 formal
offers accepted to date, equating to 92.5 FTE, and another
83 offers extended. This includes clinical and non-clinical ....

A newly developed Calf Raise App, is receiving international acclaim for its ability to track and quantify calf muscle performance in children, elderly and high-level athletes. The technology featured at one of three activation stations at the University’s Adams Centre of High Performance in Mount Maunganui. Students from Mount Maunganui College and Te Puke High School took turns doing the Calf Raise Test, a standard assessment used in clinics and sports to gauge calf muscle function requiring participants to stand on one leg and go up on their toes and back down as many times as they can. ....

Woman accused of Otago University graduation threat keeps name secret

The woman accused of threatening an attack which would have surpassed the March 15 terror events will continue to keep her name secret, for now.
The 22-year-old woman is charged with threatening to carry out a firearms and explosives attack against students in Dunedin on December 7 and 8 and appeared at the Auckland District Court on Friday.
The charging document alleges she threatened a violent act that was of a “magnitude surpassing the March 15 Christchurch mosque massacres”.
Her lawyer John Munro asked for her to be remanded without plea and for name suppression to continue, saying she would suffer extreme hardship if named. ....

Half of New Zealand’s polytech bosses have quit since the 16 institutions were merged a year ago, and one former chief executive warns more resignations will follow.
