The school improvement bond passed 2,287 to 1,545, according to unofficial election results from the Ottawa County Clerk’s office. “Our community has shared its voice today and once again has placed kids first,” Superintendent Cal De Kuiper said in a prepared statement. “This win is for students, for education, and for the Zeeland community as a whole. The bond passed in a 3,534 to 1,282 vote, according to unofficial election results from the Ottawa County Clerk’s office. Ottawa County Veteran Expo returning virtually in June GRAND HAVEN The Ottawa County Veteran Expo is returning in a new format this year, after the event was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Honor Rewards Veteran Expo will return June 5, and the Ottawa County Clerk and Register of Deeds office will be posting videos to their social media of veterans receiving medals for their time served, panel discussions, and other featured productions to recognize those who served. No registration is required for the event, which is free for the community. U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, will distribute medals to veterans and family members who have not received theirs for their service. ....
