NBC: Wear A Mask While Exercising And Showering. Maybe Even Two

NBC: Wear A Mask While Exercising And Showering. Maybe Even Two
March 13, 2021
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rolled out some guidelines for exercising, and this week NBC News explained them for us. Among the most notable guidelines, as NBC emphasized, is the charge to wear a mask while you’re exercising inside at the gym.
Based on a study of a gym-related COVID-19 breakout in Chicago in the late summer of 2020, the CDC concluded, “To reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission in exercise facilities, employees and patrons should wear a mask, even during high-intensity activities (10) while ≥6 ft apart.”

The regression in Moral Education

RECENTLY, I was asked to write about the development of Malaysia’s Moral Education as a subject by the officer in charge of Moral Education in Japan’s Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Ministry.
While it was an honour, it was also very challenging because the last I wrote about the subject’s development was in 2010, in an international journal called the Asia Pacific Journal of Educators and Education.
It has been 11 years, and since then, much improvement has been explicitly seen in its development in Malaysia.
Universiti Malaya was the pioneer in bringing in Moral Education as a minor programme for students undergoing its Teaching of English as a Second Language (TESL) programme. ....

At the anniversary of the first COVID-19 case in Hong Kong, the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) joined hands with Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU), Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR) to conduct an online survey on Hong Kong citizens’ adjustment to the year-long pandemic in late-January.
The survey findings comprise two parts – Part 1 on citizens’ psychosocial distress under the pandemic and Part 2 on citizens’ perceptions on COVID-19 vaccination. As the population with a chronic illness is likely to be prioritized in the upcoming vaccination programme, with the support from HKSR, the survey compared the responses of individuals with and without a chronic illness. It is hoped that the findings will foster a better understanding over COVID-19 vaccination among the local public. ....

Thirty-four years ago today, Rafael Mariano was marching towards the presidential palace in Manila. Joined by over 10,000 others protesting for peasant land rights, he remembers trudging past Manila Central Post Office before pushing on to Mendiola Street.
“We wanted genuine reforms with free land distribution for peasants, fully abolishing the unjust arrangements of centuries prior.  We looked for government officials to discuss our demands, but we found no one,” said Mariano, then a 30-year-old peasant activist. ....
