Coronil no way a secret medicine, Patanjali issues fact check as response to IMA

Coronil: IMA slams Harsh Vardhan for Coronil 'backing' | India News

The Indian Medical Association, the largest association of doctors in India, has issued a statement objecting to Union health minister Harsh Vardhan appearing to endorse a product of Patanjali that the company claimed was the “first evidence-based medicine for corona” approved by the WHO.
The company retracted the claim after the WHO tweeted it had “not reviewed or certified the effectiveness of any traditional medicine for the treatment of Covid-19”.
“If Coronil is effective for prevention, why is the government spending Rs 35,000 crore for vaccination,” asked the IMA. The association sought details of the socalled research or trial on the basis of which Patanjali had made the claim. ....

The sale of Coronil tablets of Patanjali will not be allowed in Maharashtra without proper certification, state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said on Tuesday.
The statement came a day after the Indian Medical Association (IMA) expressed shock over the blatant lie of WHO certification for Coronil tablets which Patanjali claims is an evidence-based medicine to fight COVID-19.
While the IMA also demanded an explanation from Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in whose presence the medicine was launched, the World Health Organization clarified that it had not reviewed or certified the effectiveness of any traditional medicine for the treatment of COVID-19. ....
