At the New Georgia Estate during his annual visit to the country, Liberian scientist, Dr. Dougbeh Nyan spoke to a group of predominately neglected and disadvantaged youths (locally known as âZogosâ) about the COVID-19 vaccination and engaging in entrepreneurship in order to better their lives. The event was organized by the Angie Brooks International Center (ABIC) which is conducting a rehabilitation program for youths affected by the countryâs long-year of civil war, economic displacement, and those involved with the use of drugs and other controlled substances. The Angie Brooks International Center is an institution focused on promoting peace and security and enhancing womenâs leadership and their participation in national or international political life. More than three hundred youths attended the one day Urban Peace Dialouge in Monrovia As part of efforts to maintain Liberia’s peace and security, the Angie Brooks International Center (ABIC) has begun intensifying its engagement with disadvantaged youths on how to maintain peace and security in the country. The one-day engagement with these disadvantaged youths on the importance of peace is aimed at rehabilitating and reintegrating them in society to become peace ambassadors at community level. Speaking during the occasion, the Head of Programs at ABIC, Gifty Mensah, highlighted the organization’s activities, saying that ABIC, with support from the Global Initiative Resilience Fund (GIRF), has piloted an entrepreneurial project in 5 communities for 250 gang youths between August and November 2020. ....
