ISLAND have shared their new single Octopus .
The song deals with that feeling of growing older, and attempting to make sense of your experiences while looking at the world around you.
Freshly signed to Frenchkiss Records, the band worked with producer Mikko Gordon on the single, which opens with plucked guitar notes and that stuttering drum beat.
Octopus has a faint sense of melancholy to the vocal, with Rollo Doherty attempting to break free of the past, while also relishing those memories.

New Microscope set to Advance Understanding of Bio-molecules
A new design for a cheaper, more flexible microscope that will give microbiologists a greater insight into how single bio-molecules such as nucleic acids and proteins behave has been developed by scientists using the UK’s Central Laser Facility (CLF).
Called the smfBox, the microscope allows scientists to look at one molecule at a time rather than generating an average result from bulk samples. Reported to work as well as commercially available instruments, but at a fraction of the cost, the prospect of more readily available equipment will offer more opportunities for improved drug discovery for diseases such as cancer, HIV-AIDS and COVID-19. ....

Climate crisis and global warming are changing our environment in not a good way and a few animals might be adapting to it already. A study conducted by Walla Walla University, in a collaboration with researchers from La Sierra University, studied how the changing nature of oceans with rising temperature is affecting octopuses.
Physiological and Biochemical Zoology Journal by University of Chicago Press Journals is titled, ‘Impact of Short- and Long-Term Exposure to Elevated Seawater Pco2 on Metabolic Rate and Hypoxia Tolerance in Octopus rubescens’. A team of four scientists studied how ocean acidification, which is the process of rising carbon dioxide levels in seawater, is affecting the metabolism of octopuses.
