On Day 1, colleges adopt mix of online and offline classes | Ranchi News

Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has given its nod to start physical classes for colleges from Thursday but on Day 1, many constituent and affiliated colleges of the University of Ranchi have adopted both offline and online classes to avoid crowding on campus and ensure Covid-19 safety rules.
Earlier, the registrar of the university had issued a notification to all constituent and affiliated colleges to open their campus from March 1 after carrying out cleaning and sanitization work for two days. The colleges have also been directed to follow the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines during the classes.
However, the Ram Lakhan Singh College here has started offline classes and continued with the live streaming of the classes for those who want to attend them online. ....

GUWAHATI: The administration won’t interfere in schools’ plans to stop offline classes and exams here amidst fresh virus threat in some parts of the country, the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district administration clarified on Tuesday.
Several city schools are reportedly planning to conduct their upcoming exams online, after a top Guwahati school was put under containment and another decided to put offline exams on hold due to Covid. In the first instance, a teacher was found to be Covid-positive a few days ago, while in the other case, a student’s parents got infected recently.
“The situation is under control in Guwahati. Guardians may get infected by the virus. But we cannot disrupt offline teaching again,” Kamrup (Metropolitan) deputy commissioner Biswajit Pegu told TOI. ....

The frigid temperatures, power outages, and water crisis in Texas are affecting drivers in West Michigan.
Gas prices in the area have already been creeping higher and this is just the beginning of what could be a week or more of slowly increasing prices. According to an article from Wood TV 8, Grand Rapids-area gas prices started increasing Tuesday afternoon from an average of $2.43 per gallon of regular gas to $2.65 per gallon, according to DeHaan. That’s in line with GasBuddy’s national prediction of a 10- to 20-cent price jump over the next two weeks. ....
