Residential burn permits available for El Dorado and Placer counties; Banned in South Lake Tahoe

Starting May 1, residents in unincorporated areas of El Dorado County, Placer County, and Alpine County will be able to receive a residential burn permit. The permits are available to the public for free and allow homeowners to burn dry landscape vegetation (NOT household trash) that originates from the landowner’s property.
The City of South Lake Tahoe does not allow for residential burning at this time due to concerns of wildfire.
“Escaped residential burn piles continue to be a leading cause of wildland fires. Exercise extreme caution while burning landscape debris,” says CalFire Amador-El Dorado Unit Chief, Mike Blankenheim.” ....

Burn permits required May 1 in Nevada, Yuba, Placer counties

Beginning Saturday, May 1, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit will require burn permits for residential vegetative material pile burning within Nevada, Yuba, and Placer counties.
Burning can only be done on permissive burn days. To find out if it is a permissive burn day, contact your local Air Pollution Control District (APCD) or Air Quality Management District (AQMD).
Placer County residents should contact the Placer County APCD.

County releases results for Meyers Commercial Cannabis businesses

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif.- After months of waiting, the El Dorado County Planning and Building Department has released the results of its Meyers Commercial Cannabis Retail Selection merit based scoring.
After receiving input from the County’s Sheriff’s Department, Air Quality Management District and the Planning Division, the Planning and Building Department announced the finalist from a short list of three applications.
The three- Embarc, Charles Boldwyn and Tahoe Honey Company - are vying for the single cannabis retail business being allowed in the Meyers town center. With 20 points, Embarc, who has a cannabis business in South Lake Tahoe, lead the group, followed by Boldwyn with 19 points and Tahoe Honey with 16. Embarc has proposed going into the current gym location. Boldwyn was purchasing the old wedding chapel for his business, and Tahoe Honey Company was planning on going into the pizza business.
