Fight for Air Climb to be held at Principal Park on May 15 Tuesday, April 20, 2021 11:10 AM The American Lung Association in Iowa recently announced that it will host an outdoor version of its Fight for Air Climb, presented by EMC Insurance Cos., on May 15. This year marks the 18th annual event and the first time the climb normally held in the stairwells of four downtown Des Moines high-rise buildings will be held instead at Principal Park for the safety of all. The organization is also offering a “Climb Your Way” option for those who can’t make it to the physical event. “Without missing a beat, we are headed outdoors, onward and upward for our legacy Fight for Air Climb event,” said Micki Sandquist, the association’s executive director. There’s a lot of folks here who have been touched by lung cancer and COVID-19 where they’ve lost folks, said Beth Socoski, the board chair for the American Lung Association. The American Lung Association in Western New York is back with its annual Fight for Air Climb Buffalo; and this year, it will be outside at Highmark Stadium. Participants will climb about 620 steps of the stadium, and it s all for a good cause. The event will take place on Saturday, May 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year, organizers are offering both outdoor and virtual options to allow anyone to participate in this year s event. The 2021 climb is aiming to raise $120,000 for research, advocacy and education. So far, according to the organization s website, more than $59,500 has been raised.
