Traffic updates as congestion hits Derby and Derbyshire Slow traffic was affecting those travelling on the A38 this afternoon Motorists in Derby and Derbyshire faced delays on the roads this afternoon. On the A38, drivers faced queuing traffic between A6 Duffield Road (Palm Court Island) and A61 Alfreton Road (Little Eaton Island) before delays eased at around 6pm. Very slow traffic was affecting drivers near Kingsway Retail Park at around 4.30pm, with traffic building from Uttoxeter New Road to the A38 at Kingsway Island, according to traffic information service Inrix. Those travelling near Spider Island were also facing delays as major roadworks continue at the busy roundabout, also known as Mitre Island. ....
The deceased has been identified as Joel Lawman of North Street in Old Harbour. He was reportedly a student of Tacius Golding High School in the parish. According to reports, Lawman had left his home and was walking in the area when it is believed that he was shot by unknown assailants. The teen reportedly managed to run home and inform his family members that he had been shot. He was assisted to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. A motive for the shooting incident has not been established by the police. Investigations are ongoing. ....
