21 Greater Philadelphia teachers receive Citadel Heart of Learning Award

During an academic year unlike any other, Citadel Credit Union is building
strength in education by honoring 21 local teachers with the Citadel Heart
of Learning Award. Teachers from across Bucks, Chester, Delaware,
Lancaster, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties have been recognized after
being nominated by their students, peers, parents, and administrators.
The Citadel Heart of Learning Award,
one of Citadel’s longest standing initiatives, was started 20 years ago in
partnership with the
Chester County Intermediate Unit
(CCIU), to recognize teachers who show dedication in and outside of the
classroom, and truly go above and beyond in their role as educators. ....

All his life, Mark Tobin had a strong desire for a challenge. He sought adventure, which led to hardships and eventually, by grace, to an encounter with God and a calling to life as a Catholic priest.
Ahead of his ordination May 15 by Archbishop Nelson Perez as a priest for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Tobin, 34, reflected on perhaps the greatest challenge of a priest and any Catholic person today: taking up one’s cross every day and following Christ. ....

The Pennsylvania Department of Education’s annual Safe Schools report for the 2019-20 school year showed a noticeable drop in reported arrests.
Districts are required to submit their misconduct reports, both criminal and academic infractions, to the state every year. Reporting sometimes changes from year-to-year, but no changes were made last school year.
Last year, the top three criminal reasons why students were in trouble statewide were:
Possession, use, or sale of tobacco or vaping 8.34 percent
Fighting 8.14 percent
Minor altercation 5.42 percent

DEFERIET, N.Y. (WWNY) - Sean Joseph Brown, 53, died Thursday, December 17th during an accidental garage fire at his home in Deferiet, NY. Born on March 7, 1967 in Wilmington, DE, Sean is survived by his mother Terry Woodall, sisters Denice and Maureen, brother Kevin, stepmother Margaret Brown, and stepsiblings: Terry, Chuck, and Valerie.
