More than $10K raised for Operation Breakthrough after podcast host’s sudden death

A recording studio in Operation Breakthrough’s soon-to-debut Ignition Lab on Troost Avenue will pay tribute to Mathew George after fans, friends and family of the late podcast host made more than $10,000 in donations in his name.
“I didn’t even realize how many people Mathew affected or was friends with,” said Mary Ann George, mother of the Liberty High School graduate and nationally known co-host of the “She Rates Dogs: The Podcast.”

Tragedy struck close to home in the early morning hours recently when popular podcaster and ASU grad Matthew George, 26, was struck and killed a little after 2am while walking in the Beverly Grove neighborhood of Los Angeles. Co-host of the popular dating and relationship podcast, She Rates Dogs, George was beloved by all who knew him.
My cousin Tyler attended ASU with George. They bonded both as classmates, and as members of the LGBTQ community. George’s death has been a devastating blow as they talked just a day before his death about Tyler’s upcoming wedding.

Mat George, co-host of the hit podcast “She Rates Dogs,” was killed in a hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles this weekend, his colleague Michaela Okland confirmed.
Okland, who co-hosts the podcast alongside George, shared the devastating news on Twitter on Saturday.
“I would rather you guys here this from me than a news article. Mat was killed in a hit and run last night,” she wrote. “I don’t really have any other words right now. I wish I could contact everybody who knows him personally but the news is already out and I just can’t do it right now.”
