July 5, 2021 LANDIKOTAL: The Government Primary School for Boys in Awal Khan Killay located near the Pak-Afghan border lacked basic facilities and teaching staff, residents said on Sunday. Awal Khan was the batman of General Ziaul Haq when the latter was serving as captain in the Landikotal Army garrison. It is said that Gen Ziaul Haq at the time of his retirement had asked Awal Khan that what he wanted in recognition of his services. It was learnt that Awal Khan had requested General Ziaul Haq to help build a road to his village Kharghali, the last border village situated at Gharghali hills sharing a border with Afghanistan. To recognise the services of the batman, the village was named after Awal Khan and the Government Primary School was built in 1985. ....
Landslide kills miner in Karak July 4, 2021 KARAK: A mineworker was killed and his brother sustained injuries after being hit by a landslide inside a gypsum mine at Jatta Ismailkhel area in the district. Police sources said that two brothers identified as Qadir Khan and Awal Khan were busy working inside the gypsum mine when it collapsed after being struck by a heavy landslide. Their co-workers started making efforts to rescue them. After hectic efforts using heavy machinery, they were retrieved in injured condition. They were rushed to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Banda Daud Shah but the doctors pronounced Qadir Khan dead on arrival. His brother Awal Khan was referred to a hospital in Peshawar due to his precarious condition. ....

ISLAMABAD: A high-level committee headed by the chairperson of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) on Monday scrutinised the cases of ‘forced’ retirement of senior bureaucrats of BS-20 to BS-22. The officers being considered for retirement included six officers of BS-22, seven of BS-21 of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), two officers of BS-21 and eight officers of the Police Service of Pakistan, including former CCPO Lahore Umer Sheikh, and other civil service cadres. The panel of the Secretariat Group of BS-22 for “Directory Retirement Board” included Aamer Hasan, Dr Imran Zeb Khan, Mohammad Hashim Popalzai, Mohammad Naeem, Pervaiz Ahmed Junejo and Noor Ahmed. ....
Man addicted to Ice, kills son during argument with wife The accused, Alam Khan, was arrested in a raid carried out by the police File PESHAWAR: A man, addicted to Methamphetamine (popularly known by the colloquy Ice) was arrested for killing an infant son during a quarrel with his wife, in the Chamanabad locality of Peshawar, on Thursday. The case was reported to the Phandu police station by the wife of the accused, Mismat, in which she stated that her husband was a methamphetamine addict and had killed their one-year-old baby, Muhammmad Rehan, in a fit of intense rage during an argument. ....
