Jordan Royal family: Multiple arrests as former Crown Prince claims he has been put under house arrest.

A member of the Jordanian royal family and the former head of the royal court were arrested on Saturday due to security reasons, according to Jordan s state news agency Petra, and the country s former crown prince claimed he has been told not to leave his home.
Petra did not offer additional details on the arrests of royal family member Hassan bin Zaid and the former head of the royal court, Basem Awadallah, saying that an investigation is underway.
Mr Zaid is a distant cousin of King Abdullah II. His brother was Ali bin Zaid, an intelligence officer killed along with seven CIA operatives in 2010 in a suicide bombing in Khost, Afghanistan. ....

Jordan's Prince Hamzah was destabilising country's security, says deputy prime minister

Jordan s former crown prince Hamzah bin Hussein was engaged in activities with foreign agents aimed at destabilising the kingdom, Deputy Prime Minister Ayman Al Safadi said on Sunday
Mr Al Safadi explained why former senior officials had been arrested late the previous evening.
On Saturday night, the official Petra news agency said former chief of the royal court Bassem Awadallah, royal family member Sharif Hassan Ben Zaid and other, unidentified figures had been detained for “security-related” reasons.
Prince Hamzah had said in a video recording that he was under house arrest along with his family, and had been told to stay at home and not contact anyone. ....

Jordan’s former crown prince says he has been placed in isolation
Jordan’s former crown prince Hamzah bin Hussein, the half-brother of the country’s ruler King Abdullah II, claims he has been placed in isolation and his communication cut off, in a video statement obtained by the BBC.
Prince Hamzah said he had been told by the Jordanian military that he shouldn’t leave his home, suggesting he has been put under house arrest.
Hamzah is the oldest son of Jordan’s late King Hussein and his American-born wife Queen Noor.
“I had a visit from the Chief of the General staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces this morning, in which he informed me that I was not allowed to go out to communicate with people or to meet with them, because that in the meetings that I had been present in or on social media relating the visits that I’ve made, there’s been criticism of the government or the King,” he said in the video, which the BBC says was sent to it by the prince’ ....

Former adviser to Jordan's King Abdullah arrested on 'security grounds'

Authorities in Jordan have arrested a former right-hand man of King Abdullah, who played a major role in developing the country’s economic policy, as well as a junior member of the royal family.
The men were reportedly detained on security grounds.
Initial reports that Prince Hamzah bin Hussein, a son of the late King Hussein by his fourth wife Queen Noor, had also been detained were not true, the Jordanian military high command and government media outlets said.

Gargash says 'stand with Jordan' as region backs King Abdullah

Jordan’s ability to weather crises is inspiring and both the region and the international community back the stability of the country, UAE presidential adviser Dr Anwar Gargash tweeted on Sunday.
“The stability of brotherly Jordan is subject to Arab and international consensus,” Dr Gargash tweeted. “Its rational policy and its construction of bridges in a troubled region were not an easy option, but it was and remains the necessary approach.”
