US Covid resurgence driven by younger adults

Date Time
US Covid resurgence driven by younger adults
As of October 2020, individuals aged 20-49 were the only groups sustaining COVID-19 transmission with reproduction numbers well above 1 in the US.
Following initial declines, numbers of COVID-19 cases started to rise again halfway through 2020 in the United States and Europe. In September the team published Report 32 as a pre-print, using age-specific mobility data from across the United states and linking these to age-specific COVID-19 mortality. Their findings pointed out that targeting interventions to adults aged 20-49 could facilitate safe reopening of schools and kindergartens.
Mobility and mortality
The peer reviewed publication in Science today by the Imperial College COVID-19 Response team includes new data up to October 2020. The updated analysis of aggregated age-specific mobility data from more than 10 million individuals in the US, shows that 65 of 100 COVID-19 infections still originated from ....

Friday, January 22, 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm GMT
This event is hosted by the platform C19economics.org, is supported by Center for Global Development (as part of the International Decision Support Initiative) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Management of the COVID-19 outbreak has relied heavily on the contributions of two disciplines: macroeconomics and epidemiology. These contributions have been largely separate: epidemiological models of COVID have yet to include economics; conversely, the attempts to include health in macroeconomic modelling have been limited (see Eichenbaum, Rebelo and Trabandt, 2020).
There is a risk that health and economics are presented as two opposing considerations in public policy (e.g., “protecting health” vs “protecting the economy” or the “lives vs livelihoods” debates). However, the interactions between the economy and health are deep and numerous. To name a few, increasing rates of infection cre ....

A new COVID-19 analysis tool that estimates which districts in Austria could become coronavirus hotspots has been launched by Imperial.
The website tool, uses reported cases and deaths to estimate the probability any of the 94 political districts of Austria will become COVID-19 ‘hotspots’ in the next three weeks.
The team behind the website, the Imperial College COVID19 Response Team, define a hotspot as a political district with more than 200 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 of the population per week.
Daily projections
The tool will update its projections daily
The site - which will be updated daily - currently highlights hotspots such as Tamsweg, Lienz and Murau with more than 600 reported cases per 100,000 population in the past week (up to 6 December 2020). ....
