Gaston County Schools seeks $51 million from county commissioners Gaston County Schools plans to ask Gaston County commissioners for $51.5 million to help operate the school district next school year. Commissioners appropriated $49.8 million to Gaston County Schools after the district requested $53.25 million for the current school year. The budget request for next school year - $51.5 million - comes out to 3.4% more than what the school district received this school year. Gaston County Schools’ total budget for the current school year amounts to nearly $310 million.
