About 80 assaults have occurred in Western Australia’s hotel quarantine system which lacks a singular workplace culture across its multiple sites, a review has found.
University of WA adjunct professor and former WA Chief Health Officer Tarun Weeramanthri, who led the review, made 16 recommendations on improving the current hotel system but suggested more ‘radical changes’ to have purpose-built quarantine sites could be examined in the future as border controls could last for years. ....

The World Food Programme (WFP) is supporting people left destitute after a fire ripped through Kutupalong the world’s biggest refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
Thousands were left desperately searching for family members, having lost their homes and all their possessions. Eleven people were killed and 300 are missing, while 360 people are being treated for severe injuries following the fire on 22 March. ....

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revised its guidelines for travel noting fully vaccinated people are less likely to get or spread COVID-19 and are safe to travel within the U.S. The CDC still recommending against non-essential travel but says the fully vaccinated or those who have recovered from COVID-19 in the past three month do not need to self-quarantine  or get tested before or after travel unless their destination requires it. What does that mean for the fully vaccinated here in Petersburg? ....
