Arrangements have been concluded by Heineken Foundation Africa in collaboration with WaterAid Nigeria to strengthen governance structures on improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) products in Bauchi, Enugu and Oyo States.
The Project has already been rolled out by the Heineken Africa Foundation and WaterAid Nigeria in the second phase of the Scale-Up Hygiene project to ramp up efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the selected states.
Country Director of WaterAid Nigeria, Dr Evelyn Mere, made the disclosure in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi, on Tuesday. ....

WaterAid, Heineken Africa Foundation Launch 2nd Phase Of Hygiene Project To Fight COVID-19 In Enugu

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – As part of its COVID- 19 response intervention in helping vulnerable Communities protect themselves against the spread of the deadly novel disease, the Heineken Foundation Africa, has extended its partnership with WaterAid to support the second phase of the Scale-Up Hygiene project in Enugu State, initially launched by WaterAid Nigeria last year.
Speaking at the launch Thursday in Enugu, Country Director of WaterAid Nigeria, Evelyn Mere, said the second phase of the project will focus on consolidating on the wins of the first phase and ramping up existing hygiene promotion interventions and campaigns to increase access to improved hygiene. ....

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – WaterAid Nigeria and Heineken Africa Foundation have assisted 21 milllion Nigerians across six states in protecting themselves against COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
The support was delivered through the completion of a seven-month project that expanded hygiene access for marginalised and vulnerable communities in Bauchi, Benue, Ekiti, Enugu, Kaduna and Oyo states.
The N284 million Scale-Up Hygiene project was aimed at complementing government’s efforts in reducing the spread of the coronavirus disease through large-scale hygiene promotion, and provision of handwashing facilities to support the practice of good hygiene in the states of intervention.
Despite the proven effectiveness of good hygiene to combat the spread of infectious diseases like COVID-19, millions of people in Nigeria do not have anywhere to wash their hands and lack the knowledge of how and why to wash hands properly. ....
