In an area where water is “liquid gold”, they use high tech monitoring to discover leaks in water systems so that they can be found soon and fixed. Water system leaks can occur at any point from main feeder lines to distribution and service pipes that convey water to homes and businesses. Leaks can range from tiny (at the time) pressure leaks to large cracks and can add up quickly. For example, a one-eight inch crack in a pipe at 60 pounds of pressure can lose more than 3800 gallons per day. Because of this, water leakage rates around the world are high (In the UK, it is estimated that water losses are more than 3 billion liters per day). Israelis have invented and applied technology to find and stop leaks when they are small. This commitment accounts for ....
The World Bank Board of Executive Directors has approved US$125 million from the International Development Association (IDA), as an additional funding for the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area Sanitation and Water Project (GAMA SWP). This additional financing will support Ghana’s effort to reach 550,000 people in low income urban communities of the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) and the Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area (GKMA) with improved sanitation and water supply services. This was made known in a press statement issued by the World Bank, dated Tuesday, September 22, 2020. “Providing equitable access to safe and improved water supply and sanitation services is essential to improve people’s lives particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this project, we are committed to provide better access to water and sanitation to the most vulnerable, therefore improving lives and reducing poverty,” Pierre Laporte, World Bank Country Dir ....

2 months ago New Zealand Government Issues Patent for Multi-Sensor Machine-Intelligent Probe for Leak Detection Where New Technology Doesn’t Require ‘Hearing’ Leaks and Has 1cm Accuracy SACRAMENTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ASTMF2550–California-based cleantech leader, Electro Scan Inc., announced its 14th international patent for its groundbreaking multi-sensor technology that accurately locates & measures water leaks. While traditional solutions ‘listen’ for a leak or rely on cameras to ‘see’ a leak, Electro Scan’s machine-intelligent probe automatically measures leaks by locating actual cracks & holes that go through the pipe wall, measuring the size of each opening using harmless low voltage electric current. The Electro Scan technology also evaluates pipe wall thicknesses, particularly in Asbestos Cement (AC) pipes that tend to burst, collapse, or lead to catastrophic failure without warning. ....
