India’s second largest telecom operator by subscribers Airtel said that it is ready to roll out fifth generation (5G) services through its existing network infrastructure.
With this move, Airtel is claiming that it can roll out 5G within months at no added costs.

It is the first telco in India to successfully demonstrate live 5G service over a commercial network in Hyderabad.
Bharti Airtel, one of India s largest telecom network providers, today announced its 5G Ready network. It has also become the country s first telco to demonstrate its live 5G service. Airtel used its existing spectrum in the 1800 MHz band through the NSA (Non Stand Alone) network technology to showcase its 5G service in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad/New Delhi: Bharti Airtel on Thursday announced that it has become the country’s first telco to successfully demonstrate and orchestrate live 5G service over a commercial network in Hyderabad city.
The company stated that it did this over its existing liberalised spectrum in the 1800 MHz band through the NSA (Non Stand Alone) network technology.
It further said that Airtel 5G is capable of delivering 10x speeds, 10x latency and 100x concurrency when compared to existing technologies, adding that users specifically, in Hyderabad, were able to download a full length movie in a matter of seconds on a 5G phone. ....

Airtel is now a 5G-ready network and the telecom operator is waiting for adequate spectrum allocation to rollout 5G services in the country, said Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO, Bharti Airtel on Thursday. Recently, the company demonstrated live 5G over a commercial network in Hyderabad city and said that its network is 5G ready. Airtel did this over its existing liberalised spectrum in the 1800 MHz band through the Non Stand Alone network technology. Using the dynamic spectrum sharing, Airtel operated 5G and 4G concurrently within the same spectrum block.
