Conference promoting non-oil exports, 16 to 17 March-Tripoli


London, 17 March 2021:
The Second Scientific Conference for Non-Oil Exports started in Tripoli yesterday and will end today. The event is organized by the Libyan Export Promotion Centre (LEPC).
The aim of the conference is:
Establishing the current position of Libya’s non-oil exports and their possible horizons
Exploring barriers to Libya’s non-oil exports and possible solutions to them
Exploring experiences of other states in increasing their non-oil exports
Proposals of  mechanisms and programmes of work to help develop non-oil exports
The conference is hosting several researchers, exporters and business leaders to discuss research papers on the reality of the country’s non-oil exports and the possibility of their development. ....

Merchandise exports for Q4 may total $78.6 billion: Exim Bank

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 15 (ANI): Export-Import Bank of India (India Exim Bank) forecasts India s total merchandise exports to amount to 78.6 billion dollars during the fourth quarter of 2020-21, growing at 4.9 per cent year-on-year.
Non-oil exports are likely to total up to 73.9 billion dollars in Q4, growing at 12 per cent from 65.9 billion dollars in the year-ago period.
Consequently, aggregate exports for 2020-21 are forecast to amount to 279.4 billion dollars, witnessing a contraction of 10.8 per cent over 2019-20.
Non-oil exports are forecast to amount to 256.8 billion dollars, witnessing a contraction of 5.6 per cent over 2019-20. ....

FG targets $150b from non-oil exports

Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mariam Yalwaji Katagum, has disclosed that the Federal Government is pursuing an aggressive strategy to increase foreign exchange earnings on non-oil export trade to $150 billion.
She explained that the strategy, which hinged on government’s zero oil plan strategy, was being planned for 10 years.
The minister stated this at the opening of a two-day capacity building for members of Women Farmers and Traders Association (WFTA), organised by the ministry in collaboration with the association.
Katagum explained that the Federal Government was capitalising on non-oil sector to exploit abundant deposit resources, while discouraging over dependence on oil. ....
