Allan Jerome Hughes, Jr ALPENA A man arrested in Arizona in conjunction with a recent home invasion, assault, and manhunt in Alpena had “high violence potential,” according to police reports. The May 4 arrest of Allan Hughes, 28, in Phoenix stemmed from an Alpena Police Department investigation of a break-in at an Alpena home and ensuing police search for two armed men on April 27. Although two discarded guns possibly involved in the assault were found after the escape, the Scottsdale, Arizona police asked to assist in Hughes’ arrest were told by Michigan State Police that Hughes was believed to be still armed and “very dangerous,” according to police reports obtained by The News from the Scottsdale Police Department. ....

Police arrested Allan Jerome Hughes Jr., 28, of Wyoming, Michigan on Tuesday in Scottsdale, Arizona after a weeklong search, the Alpena Police Department announced in a Wednesday press release. Police said Hughes, along with a second suspect, entered a home on the 400 block of South 2nd Avenue around 2 a.m. on April 27 and demanded cash and other items from the male and female residents. When the victims were unable to comply with the demands, police said, the male victim was beaten on the head with a handgun. ....

The department says Allan Hughes, 28, of Wyoming was apprehended Tuesday in Scottsdale, Arizona after a week long search. Police say that Hughes, along with another suspect, entered a home on the 400 block of South Second Avenue in the early morning on Apr. 27, and demanded cash and other items from a man and a woman. When the victims would not comply, the man was beaten in the head with the suspect’s gun. The suspects then ran from the home in a gray-colored car which was later abandoned behind a home near Ford and Miller Street. ....

Tanner allegedly dropped his debit card, which had his name on in, after using the card to jimmy the locked door of someone else s home open. The frosting on the cake was that the homeowner actually arrived to find Tanner inside her house. He ran out as she yelled his name. Yeah, she knew him. Weird, right? ....
